Back in Manhattan, Barrington is hired by his sometime ally, CIA boss Lance Cabot, to surreptitiously guard Lance's brother's back. Seems Barton Cabot, an officer in army intelligence, has been the victim of an amnesia-inducing "accident" and he knows too many state secrets to wander loose. Barton also has an interesting hobby for a spy: he builds and restores antique furniture and it is from this field of activity that the danger will emerge.

Hot Mahogany : Stone Barrington, ex-NYPD now lawyer, meets Barton Cabot older brother of CIA boss Lance Cabot. Lance hires Stone to watch his brother's back after his brother was attacked and severely injured.

Barton, as Stone learns, is a spy with a rather unusual hobby: building and restoring antique furniture.

Stone soon discovers that Barton and some shady characters of his acquaintance may be hiding a lot more than just a few forged antiques.

Very good read!
