This program takes viewers first to a watery wilderness at the edge of the Sahara known as the Djoudj bird sanctuary. Students follow the seasonal cycle of life, watching as the Senegal River delta swells and brings the sights and sounds of hundreds of thousands of birds that feed on the fish and insects teeming in its waters. Viewers then travel with nomads to Niger and discover a hostile, yet beautiful, landscape of rocks and sand dunes when they follow a camel caravan down from the Air Mountains and into the Tenere Desert. From there, students travel to the last jungle on the Ivory Coast, where they enter the dense rainforest and catch glimpses of dwarf antelope, chimpanzees, red colobus monkeys and Tai elephants. Part of the multivolume Natural Wonders of the World Video Series. A Teacher's Guide is included and available online.
