Different storyline then the tv show and more for all ages as well. Its cute and another way to experience Pokemon and the artwork is pretty decent too. Way less linear then the show and each chapter kinda plays out different rather then the show where you can see a pattern happening in every episode. I'd give it 3.5 out of 5 mainly because it's Pokemon though.

This takes me way back to when i first just came over to the section where the Pokémon Adventures books were and i just pulled it out and thought, "Wow there's more than just a Pokémon show!" I was wondering if the main character was Ash or something but nope, it was a trainer named Red for the first saga! And what do i mean by first saga? I mean this is only the beginning of the saga as you can experience from Kanto to Kalos and probably even more in the future! Do you wonder if you should read this? Well, if you're a Pokémon fan of the show or games, a manga reader or maybe both, then i recommend this is as the start of a brand new adventure for you.

The manga is different enough from the games to justify reading on its own.

Pokémon Adventures vol.1 is a graphic novel based the best-selling video games Pokémon Red, Blue, Yellow, and Green, written by Hidenori Kusaka. It was published in 2009.
Red is a young Pokémon trainer who is the best in his home town, Pallet Town, but he begins to doubt himself after he meets another trainer of his age named Blue, and is defeated by the phantom Pokémon known as Mew. In search of help, he seeks advice from world renowned Pokémon expert, Professor Oak, but accidentally releases all of his Pokémon. When Professor Oak returns, he believes that Red is attempting to steal his Pokémon. Red helps him to gather his Pokémon and tells Professor Oak the real reason he came. As thanks for his help, the professor tells Red to explore the entire Kanto region, and gives him a pokédex, a special device that gathers data about the 151 Pokémon, and Bulbasaur, one of his Pokémon that really seems to like Red.
Red decides to go to the Viridian forest to start his journey, where he crosses with Blue. He learns that Blue is in the forest for the same reason as him. He also learns that Blue is Professor Oak’s grandson, and he too has a pokédex, making them rivals in this journey. The two boys have very different personalities. Blue is stricter and trains his Pokémon very hard, while Red is more laid-back and tends to jump into things without thinking too much.
If you enjoyed the generation one Pokémon games, books 1-7 will take you back to the past!

Loved it. If you are a Pokemon fan, READ THIS! I watched the series when I was younger and then read this in high school. Brought back memories and was a very enjoyable read. Reading right to left took some getting used to, but I enjoyed the unorthodox reading style. Definitely worth the read. Did it in one day!
