Tim and Kate may be the last middle-class family in Brooklyn Heights. He is a popular but unassuming history teacher at an exclusive private school; she is a stay-at-home mother with two young sons. All very ordinary. And then Anna Brody, beautiful and wealthy, moves into the neighbourhood. As the social-climbing local mothers jockey for inclusion in Anna's circle, Anna turns her attention to Kate and Tim. Why?

I love a 'multi-point of view' book. The narration switches between Kate and Tim, the central couple of the story, and one of Tim's students, Bea(?). Kate and Tim have two kids, but they are not the focus of the story. Rather the story really concentrates on the relationship that Kate and Tim have, and their interactions with others in the neighbourhood, including students, other parents, Kate's ex and Anna Brody.

Most fun I"ve had reading a novel in ages...reads like a younger John Irving.
