Olivia is one of Julia Quinn's funniest and pluckiest heroines. A real delight!
Quintessential Quinn. Very funny and the romantic situations weren't cheesy at all. I was surprised. Probably one of my favorite Quinn books. Great summer read!
That was a relaxing reading full of funny situations and characters. The only weak part, in my opinion, was the end; I think the author tried too hard. But even that couldn't spoil my impression about that book.
If you like love stories, that is a good one.
Usually I find Julia Quinn’s style unbearably American, anachronistic, and obtrusive. With this novel, her characters are so engaging and sympathetic, and their story so sweetly simple, that her prose didn’t get in the way. I find this marvellous. I didn’t much like the dramatic twist near the end because the tone of the incident disrupted the fun, light atmosphere of the rest of the book, but I’ll acknowledge it made sense as a catalyst to tie up loose ends. Quite satisfying all in all, and it restores my good opinion of Quinn’s underlying talent.
