Yukon Jack’s 12 Timeless Kids’ Books to Read Together
This post was originally published on Sept. 5, 2017 and updated for 2019. Yukon Jack is a radio host on 100.3 FM The Bear. He’s also the father of two boys and host of Daddy Boot Camp at the Edmonton Public Library. It's never too early to start reading to your kids. A book called Bear Snores On first clued me into that. Long before my son Mac knew what the book was about, he was enjoying… (more)

Farmfair can be a noisy place! Take this book home to practice your best - and silliest - animal sounds!
A great poem that is lots of fun to follow along and to sing along to. A great book that your little one can be involved directly with. We're big fans of Sandra Boynton in my house.

Add a CommentThis is one of our favorite board books. My son loved it and my daughter feels the same way. We read it multiple times per day, and the best part is that because it is so cute and short, it doesn't get old for the adults.
Lovely little book.
My 18 month old grabbed it out of the book boxes at the library and wouldn't let go, so clearly it was coming home with us. He and big brother (three and a half) both really enjoyed the silly little rhymes and telling me what animal sound came next. The meter's pretty good, and the illustrations are appropriately goofy. "The cow says moo. The sheep says baa. Three little pigs say la la la."
Great for babies and toddlers. Older children would likely find it juvenile unless they were reading it to a younger sibling.
One of my all-time favorite books. Sandra Boynton is the best. Pairs nicely with the classic rhyme, Baa Baa Black Sheep, and Mem Fox's book Where Is the Green Sheep?
I really didn't expect my daughter to like this one, as it was just so 'silly', but I think that's what did it for her. She loveeeed it.. and asked for it every night for a very long time!
