I give this book 5 stars. It’s really interesting how people think Melody isn’t smart but she is smart. Also, I was glad Penny was born perfect. This book is amazing!!!!!!

This book about a girl with Cerebral Palsy was ok, but the character's personality was kinda odd. Sure Melody didn't like the way the classroom looked, but she doesn't have to sound so mature about it. Also, the idea of Penny being hit by a car was kind of over-suggestive. (What if kids are reading this?) Not to mention Melody's classmates leaving her behind on the flight to Boston. Other than that, the book was kinda interesting.

This book has an important message. However, I feel like parts of the story were forced/contrived/unrealistic. Reading the book made me want to seek out books written by people with CP, to get an authentic perspective.

This book made me realize all the things disabled people can do. I love it! Melody is so sweet and funny in her own special way. I will never be able to look at a person with a disability the same way. The story was interesting, and I've never read one like it.

Amazing book! It is the inspiring story about a girl who most people look down on because she has disabilities. It changed the way I see disabled people forever! Really good, I give it 5 stars.

A disabled girl named Melody has been collecting words that she hears and one day has the chance to let them out. Everybody assumes that Melody is dumb, but when she can "talk", everyone realizes she isn't the girl that everyone thinks she is.

Out Of My Mind is a book about an eleven year old disabled girl named Melody. Melody is unique, she has something called a photographic memory. So everything that she hears or sees is stuck in her brain without a delete button. Melody is also stuck in a wheel chair, cant talk, and must be fed by someone else. Out of my mind is about Melody getting her chance to speak using her machine, and how her life is and how to adapt.

Being unable to speak, unable to walk, to hug her parents, to tell anybody: I love you. It's hard. Especially when people think you're retarded and your fish commits suicide. Melody has handled it all; but now she has a chance to speak- to be the person she truly is, in a way that will stay with you forever. Read it, love it, and cry: this is an amazing book.

This book is about a girl with a disability that does not let her move her body on her own will and how she over comes that and earns a voice.

In the book Out of My Mind, Sharon M. Draper writes about an incredibly bright eleven year old girl named Melody who has cerebral palsy. Melody wants so much to be able to communicate with others but is trapped inside by a disability that leaves her a prisoner without a voice. She desperately wants to talk; to show the world that she is actually gifted verbally, with a photogenic memory for words that surpasses that of all her peers. But she cannot, beyond grunting and spastic movements. With the help school assistant, Melody gets a machine that talks for her. With it, she is no longer trapped; she is no longer out of her mind! This machine enables Melanie to do more things and reach new heights. It also brings on more problems. I would highly recommend this book.
