Karen Harper writes really good historical fiction and wrote an excellent mystery series based on the character, Ursula Blanchard, set in Tudor times. This particular title deals with Elizabeth I and her rise to the throne. Kat Ashley was the tutor and companion during Elizabeth's formative years. Reading about the Tudor times is a good reminder of what folks did without modern technology--they schemed and plotted! Elizabeth went through many hard times before she took the throne and these all contributed to make her a good ruler. Well done.

Intrigue, mystery and love. As well, a lesson in old English life. Love it.

I enjoyed this book. Since some of it is based on fact, it makes the whole story more interesting. It was quite fast paced for an historical novel. A good read.
