There are stories no one knows. Hidden stories. I love those stories. And since I work in the National Archives, I find those stories for a living.

Beecher White, a young archivist, spends his days working with the most important documents of the U.S. government. He has always been the keeper of other people's stories, never a part of the story himself...

Until now.

When Clementine Kaye, Beecher's first childhood crush, shows up at the National Archives asking for his help tracking down her long-lost father, Beecher tries to impress her by showing her the secret vault where the President of the United States privately reviews classified documents. After they accidentally happen upon a priceless artifact - a 200 hundred-year-old dictionary that once belonged to George Washington, hidden underneath a desk chair, Beecher and Clementine find themselves suddenly entangled in a web of deception, conspiracy, and murder.

Soon a man is dead, and Beecher is on the run as he races to learn the truth behind this mysterious national treasure. His search will lead him to discover a coded and ingenious puzzle that conceals a disturbing secret from the founding of our nation. It is a secret, Beecher soon discovers, that some believe is worth killing for.

Gripping, fast-paced, and filled with the fascinating historical detail for which he is famous, THE INNER CIRCLE is a thrilling novel that showcases a brilliant author writing at the height of his craft.

Are there sex scenes in this book? I have read Meltzer's books but forgot-my 14 year old is interested and I do not want him reading vivid sexual scenes

Wow what an amazing thrill novel. I enjoyed every second I read this novel. Once you start reading, you will have trouble putting it done. The plot is quite amazing with historical facts and details about the most secret society in the history of the USA. Throughout the whole novel you the reader will have difficulty knowing who is or is not telling the truth as the main character whips through this adventure against the President of USA! If you like and enjoy fast-paced novels with a great plot that consists of twist and turns then this a book  is for you! It's mostly based in Washington D.C. and other states nearby but more importantly there is one chapter that does take place in CANADA! A great read...hope you enjoy!

I like the style of writing that Brad Meltzer employs; it's very fast-paced and easy to read. In most of his books, including this one, he manages to splice in historical facts that add greatly to the book's enjoyability. While not for everyone, I'd still recommend this book.

Never was able to reaaly get into the story. I think that secret codes and such has been over done.

Meltzer's writing is not bad, but unfortunately his plot leaves a lot to be desired and turns this book into almost a joke

A fresh story about how the president of the United States used the facility inside the National Archive to communicate messages with his most loyal and secretive friends. The author over used pointless dialogue and a couple of pieces just didn't fit. But good enuff to keep readers turning those pages though unsatisfied in several places from the middle to the end.

Put it down. Couldn't find the motivation---perhaps just Grisham'ed out? Will try it again some other time.
