Have you ever seen a great movie series with a father and his 3 sons all having the same roles in the movie? Well, here we find actor Joe McGann and his three sons. They are all excellent in their roles as an Irish farming family. KCLS patron 1V27HUjg has a terrific review below mine! I don't think anyone can improve on that review.

Outstanding portrayal of Irish lives under British occupation with not a bit of sugar coating. Sometimes hard to watch, much less comprehend the starvation of a people already mired in poverty & religious domination. While crops & foods were shipped to England the Irish died of starvation, disease & lack of education. Yes, there are brutal scenes, all based on research & historical records.

A riveting story about the British landlording system in Ireland during the Great Potato Famine and the struggle of four brothers against it. Michael Kitchen is excellent in his roll as the landlord's agent, a man who struggles with the responsibilities of his job versus the obvious injustice that the system perpetrates. A thought-provoking movie!

The GRUESOME BRUTALITY at the beginning so sickened me that I returned this series without watching!
