It's hipster sexual politics filtered through the French New Wave. When Francis and his best friend Marie both fall for the same guy, all bets are off as they attempt to out-maneuver one another to win his affection. Or at least figure out what his sexual preferences are and who's got a shot.

An excellent film! Quirky, beautiful, well directed, written and filmed.

This film is abstract and very personal. That means if you don't strike a chord, you won't like it. I didn't, and hence didn't attempt to finish it. Definitely not everyone's cup of tea.

It lacks depth and nuance but the filmmaker is very young. Shorter would have been better. The "Prix Regard Jeune" at Cannes probably had more to do with the promise of what might come in future films, with maturity, than this actual film. Still, the acting is okay, as is the look of the film, and on the whole it's sort of amusing.

Faut l'faire!

This young director (and actor) Xavier Dolan is the new star in movie directing. His first movie "J'ai Tué Ma Mère" (I Killed My Mom) was awarded at Cannes Film Fest. It was very good indeed.

This movie is even better. Awarded at Cannes again, it's smart, cinematography is original as well as the structure of the movie. Well balance of slow motion shots and cute funny clips of people talking about relationship. With the music on top of that and you have a movie not basic at all but modern and refreshing.

Remember this name: Xavier Dolan.

The camera shots are creative, and the camera lighting is nice especially the disco dance scene. I am not sure is this an experimental film? because the story telling approach is not so ordinary.
