Love these large format, armchair travel books. Have done a few of the routes and this gave me ideas for future trips.

Great Journeys: Travel the World’s Most Spectacular Routes. ----- Andrew Bain et all. ---- Sumptuously illustrated, large format pages, on slick, coated stock, this book could be mistaken for just another coffee table book. Whether you look at this album for ideas about your next trip or whether you enjoy it simply to give you a tour of the beauty of this world this volume is not to be missed. In just over 300 pages, Bain illustrates over n75 journeys, some overland, some on rivers and seas, some walks and pilgrimages. There are eight categories in all. Some are close to home like the Glacier Parkway in the Canadian west. Others are more exotic such as the Karakoram Highway or the Salt Train in the Sahara. Some are undemanding trips such as Ireland’s Ring of Kerry while others are much more physically demanding such as the Camino de Santiago. The authors helpfully include such information as the length of the journey, the ideal time commitment; the best time of the year for the adventure and essential tips. If you have any bone of wanderlust in your body, this book is one not to miss.
