Jeff Ashton was part of the prosecution team in the Florida homicide trial of Casey Anthony, the single mother accused of murdering her little girl, Caylee. The most sensational courtroom drama since the infamous O.J. Simpson affair, the Casey Anthony trial had people coast-to-coast riveted. In his stunning true crime masterwork, Imperfect Justice, Ashton gives a fascinating and impassioned insider's account of the investigation, the trial, and the acquittal that shocked the nation, and makes a powerful case as to why allowing Anthony to walk free was a devastating travesty of justice.

Not since the O.J. verdict had so many people wondered how a jury could get it so terribly wrong. When Casey Anthony, accused of murdering her daughter Caylee was acquitted in 2011 despite the mountain of incriminating circumstantial evidence, many pointed fingers at the prosecution for blowing the case. But Jeff Ashton sets the record straight in this book by going into great detail, showing how the police debunked the plethora of lies told by Anthony; how her delusional mother protected Casey from her disgraceful past; and how a former bikini salesman and Johnnie Cochran wannabe was able to turn the entire trial into a spectacle. Imperfect Justice really shows us how hard it is being a prosecutor in a case like this one. Unlike defense lawyers who can throw endless mud against the wall and hope something sticks, the DA must always act honorably and in the interests of the people, making their job the equivalent of trying to hit a moving target who is constantly using smoke and mirrors. But the biggest thing I came away with after reading this book was the dilemma of allowing cameras in the courtroom. By televising legal proceedings, especially in a high-profile murder case like the Anthony trial, you're always going to have carnival barkers disguised as lawyers actually paying to be part of the defense team in order to get millions of dollars in free publicity by being seen on CourtTV and HLN. And by offering nothing except reckless innuendo to get noticed, it is an issue that is severely damaging American justice.

She should have been in jail for killing her baby girl. Stop living and blaming dad for it.

Great read, the defense also wrote a book, I read his first BIG MISTAKE true to his career he is a LIAR. So sad she didn't have to pay for this. Ashton is an incredible crown. Thanks for the great read.

Excellent book. Very hard to believe that with all that was known she could be free. Jeff Ashton is inspiring in his convictions and sense of decency.
