"The Red House Mystery" by A. A. Milne is a good 'locked-room' mystery, of sorts. The sleuth is very much an amateur with a side-kick. The victim is a stranger, of sorts. The suspect has gone missing. The location: a country home. The village: quaint. The police: practically non-existent. And the whole thing is fairly light-hearted. And, yet well-plotted with good characters and decent dialogue. Fun mystery.
