Spectacular book, well-read by Roy Dotrice (RIP). Of course any book that is part of a series is bound to leave you unsatisfied, and GOT is no exception. Never-the-less, there are many interesting characters, fascinating worlds based on the European world of Castles, King, Knights, and Chivalry. One thing George doesn't seem to mind doing is killing off beloved characters, so be ready. Parents with kids should be careful. Personally, I think exposing kids to lots of different ideas is not bad (especially if they are willing to read it). However, for parents who are sensitive what their kids are exposed to, chivalry is only an ideal in this world. Murder, mayhem, and sex are integral drivers of the plot, so you may want to do some censoring. I'm currently reading Clash of Kings, and like it better because it takes you close to the politics and Courtly intrigues within this World. I'll probably be dissatisfied with this book too because it'll probably leave me unsatisfied until I can read all of the books. Hear that, George?!? Finish your books!!!
