Mean Girls
Mean Girls DVD - 2004 | Special collector's edition, Widescreen edition.

Mean Girls is a teen comedy released in 2004 that still in the present day has remained to be an iconic and memorable film. From the popular jocks to the quiet emo kids, this movie has all the classic high school clichés, though admittedly most being unrealistic today. Some jokes hit, some just plain cheesy and coming off as trying too hard for me personally. I think the popularity of the movie revolves around its more lacklustre parts, than what's actually enjoyable about it. My favourite character was definitely Damian. Overall enjoyable, I can see why it is a fan favourite. 4 Stars

Cady Heron is a teenage girl who has been homeschooled in Africa, and then she moves to New York, to go to a public high school. She decides to friend a group called “the Plastics” and doesn’t expect war when she starts to like the most popular girl in schools ex-boyfriend. I absolutely love this movie and its one of my favourite comedies. This movie can be watched countless times and it never gets boring. If you’re ever in a need for a laugh make sure to watch this movie, and you’ll be happy in no time. This is kind of a chick flick so some guys may not enjoy as much. Some parts of high school and things are exaggerated but it’s still a really good movie. I rate this movie a 4/5.

I rate Mean Girls a definite 5/5. This movie is amazing for all audiences, but specifically teenagers. It looks at common issues, but also has a funny side that makes the movie entertaining. The subtle comedy throughout is the basis of the film and it engages you to keep watching. The mean popular group and the drama in the movie is quite relatable to many teenagers who are in high school, but not to the degree that is shown of course. The film exaggerates characters and stereotypes which takes a very familiar/common character and makes them unique. However, the film uses some offensive language towards others, women especially. Because of that, I would recommend that the movie is watched by individuals 13+ with parental permission.

Mean Girls clearly is a movie targeted towards the female audience, although I know some men who actually genuinely enjoyed it. This movie is full of that classic stereotypical teenage girl in high school with the jocks, cool cheerleaders and unpopular kids. Aside from this, the movie is actually very entertaining. I find it really cheesy and I guess that’s what is really entertaining about it. I love Regina George’s Burn Book and it has got to be my favourite part of the movie! The actors played their roles spot on and it was a really well done movie overall. I would definitely recommend this to my friends and it gets a 4 out of 5 star rating from me.
