Director William Wyler will be best known as the director of Ben Hur, but for me his biggest hit was "Funny Girl". It stars Barbara Streisand and Omar Sharif in the musical adaptation of the life of Fanny Brice. Now in the 1920' and 1930's she was a singer, stage and film actress, and had her own radio show called "Baby Snooks". Few actresses had the talent of a Fanny Brice, but Barbara Streisand had all of it and more. The movie was a big hit and so was the soundtrack. The song "Second Hand Rose" from the movie became a big hit. This 1989 movie came much after the passing of the real Fanny Brice, but it is a loving tribute to a great talent! P.S. KCLS has 5 copies of "Funny Girl" and 40 patrons with a hold on it. That is good evidence to me that many patrons love this movie! P.S. Thanks "playland" for your review. I hope you won't mind me paraphrasing you when you say the movie a great classic and should be for all ages. I couldn't agree more!
