This was a heart wrenching book and I felt sorry for Sarah from the beginning. I find it hard to believe she married a French man in the first instance and that he had an affair(s) on her a lot. She wasn't always the smartest one. Her daughter was a little more mature than I thought she would be. She certainly was overtaken by the story of Sarah and so much so to name her daughter after her and then to hook up with Sarah's son in the end. Certainly a full circle story. Didn't like the french and she was right when she said "We don't remember our roots and Paris was as bad at that as Americans were". Liked this book a lot.
