EPL Great Stuff Guest: Danielle Metcalfe-Chenail's: Exploring Reconciliation

Reconciliation. It’s been big news since the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) wrapped up after years of statement gathering, and issued its executive report last year. There are some who are worried it’s just a buzz word. For me, it’s been a paradigm shift that’s been a long time in the works. A big part of changing the way we think about the world around us is by the books we read, the movies we watch, the games we play, and the media we consume. So I am honoured to share a few items available at EPL that have helped me think through our shared past, present and future; alone and with my young family. Because that’s key for me. As I’ve learned through Reconciliation in Solidarity Edmonton (RISE), and getting to edit, In This Together: Fifteen Stories of Truth and Reconciliation (available through EPL), this process isn’t something we can or should do in isolation, and it’s definitely not one-sided. It’s up to all Canadians to reflect on our treaty relationships and what kind of country we’d like to build. Because we are all in this together. "We have described for you a mountain.
