EPL Picks: Understanding Ramadan and Islam

Ramadan is the ninth month in the Muslim calendar, and celebrates the revelation of the Quran to the Prophet Muhammad. It is a time of fasting, devotion, and charity, and lasts approximately 30 days, from the sighting of the crescent moon to the next sighting. The end of the holy month is marked by Eid al-Fitr, a holiday during which it is forbidden to fast. Learn more about Ramadan, Islam, and Eid al-Fitr from the books on this list, and try out some of the delicious recipes in these cookbooks.
