EPL Picks: Magnificent Magpies

The votes are in and the black-billed magpie is Edmonton's city bird! This striking, talkative, intelligent corvid is a year-round resident; Edmonton hosts the largest urban population of black-billed magpies in North America. Magpies are industrious, community-minded, and resourceful. Due to their black and white plumage, they are seen in folklore as both darkness and light, and can be bearers of bad luck or good fortune.
