In her early twenties, Fern Brookbanks spent twenty-four hours with artist Will Baxter. They agree to meet again one year later, but Fern showed up and Will didn't. Ten years later, Fern is running her mother's Muskoka lakeside resort. Unfortunately, the place is in shambles and her ex-boyfriend is the manager. To her astonishment, Will appears on the scene and offers to help. Fern realizes Will is hiding something, and she wonders if she can trust him.
